Depression Treatment Options at ReGen Advanced Infusion & Wellness Center

Ketamine-based therapies

  • We specialize in ketamine infusion therapy and related approaches for mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, as well as chronic pain conditions, mind-body syndromes, and addiction support.
  • Often used for treatment-resistant depression (when standard antidepressants don’t work)

Other supportive / adjunct treatments

Depending on the clinic plan, treatment may also include:

  • Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
  • Infusion-based wellness therapies (e.g., NAD+, nutrients) to support brain and cellular function
  • Regenerative or longevity therapies: depression is multifactorial, and we have found that investigating and supporting nutritional deficiencies, chronic pain, and self-image greatly improves depressive symptoms.

When to Seek Evaluation for Depression

At ReGen, we don’t do primary depression evaluations and screenings. You should consider a professional evaluation with your primary care provider or your mental health provider if you experience:

Core symptoms (lasting ≥2 weeks)

  • Persistent sadness or low mood
  • Loss of interest/pleasure (anhedonia)
  • Fatigue or low energy
  • Sleep or appetite changes
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Feelings of guilt or worthlessness

Urgent signs (seek help immediately)

  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • Severe functional impairment (can’t work, eat, or get out of bed)
  • Sudden worsening or mood swings

If you experience these symptoms, we recommend contacting a crisis organization, such as calling or texting 988, or going to your nearest emergency department.

Situations Where Earlier Evaluation Matters:

– Symptoms don’t improve with lifestyle changes

– You’ve already tried antidepressants without success

– Depression is interfering with relationships or job performance

Understanding the Neurobiological Drivers of Depression

Depression isn’t just “low mood.” It involves multiple brain and body systems:

1. Neurotransmitter imbalance

  • Dysfunction in serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine signaling
  • Glutamate dysregulation and decreased connectivity (key to ketamine’s efficacy)

2. Brain circuit changes

  • Prefrontal cortex → shown to have reduced activity which affects decision-making and control)
  • Amygdala → shown to have increased activity which increases fear and negative emotions.
  • Hippocampus → often shrinks with chronic depression

3. Inflammation, immune signaling, stress dysregulation

  • Chronic inflammation can affect mood and cognition
  • Chronic inflammation and stress lead to chronic illness and causes changes in brain chemistry and connectivity
    • This may manifest as sleep disruption, impaired memory, and emotional dysregulation

4. Neuroplasticity deficits

  • Depression is increasingly seen as a disorder of reduced brain adaptability
  • Treatments like ketamine may work by restoring neural connections quickly
